If you are looking for a musical experience full of strength and meaning, you cannot miss Girls To The Front. This project, led by the multifaceted Mar Álvarez, brings together a group of female musicians to perform anthems that have marked the history of the feminist struggle and civil rights. 🎸
The initiative was born from a very special proposal by the Foundation after the visit of activist Gloria Steinem to Asturias. The result is a powerful and exciting repertoire that invites reflection and the celebration of freedom.
The repertoire
The band selects iconic songs that have served as the soundtrack for major social changes. Among the songs you will be able to enjoy in their live performance are:
- People have the power, by Patti Smith (which gave the group its name in its early days).
- We shall overcome, by Mahalia Jackson.
- Talking about the revolution, by Tracy Chapman.
It is a unique opportunity to enjoy the talent of Mar Álvarez —known for her career in Undershakers, Pauline en la Playa, and Petit Pop— together with a group of women who put their art at the service of advocacy. It is a perfect plan to enjoy music with a message! ✨
