Women on stage! is a show by Arte Producciones José Rico that blends comedy, drama, and musical. It arrives at the Casa de Cultura Juan Selgas in Cudillero as part of the Asturies, Cultura en Rede circuit.
Three theater workers prepare the technical side before a performance. Amid cables, spotlights, and tools, they talk about that afternoon’s setup and plays they have seen or performed in school. Little by little, they slip into the shoes of great female characters from theater and play at being “great actresses.”
Each story is accompanied by a song that brings the text into the present. The company aims to highlight the role of female characters from universal theater in social evolution and change. Directed and written by José Rico, with Natalia Suárez Ríos, Vanessa Estraviz, and Dulce Victoria Pérez Rumoroso in the cast.
