The war film series organized by the Sociedad Cultural Gijonesa and the Universidad Popular is screening the 1934 American film The Lost Patrol, directed by John Ford and based on the novel by Philip MacDonald. The session will feature an introduction by Jorge Alonso and a subsequent debate led by Nacho Muñiz and Jorge Alonso.
The story follows a British patrol that, during World War I (mentioned as World War II in the source), crosses the desert of Mesopotamia following the death of the commanding officer who knew the mission. From that moment on, the soldiers die one by one, with their only refuge being an oasis with a ruined mosque.
This third joint screening arises from the collaboration between the film series of the Sociedad Cultural Gijonesa and the UP course “Mucho más que tiros”. Organized by the Sociedad Cultural Gijonesa and the Universidad Popular (FMCEyUP).
