Get ready to live an unforgettable cinematic experience with the screening of Metropolis, the masterpiece by Fritz Lang, presented as a unique film-concert. This proposal, which is part of the Jazz Xixón program, fuses the visual power of this classic with an original soundtrack performed live by a contemporary jazz ensemble.
The event will take place at the Teatro Jovellanos, where you can immerse yourself in this sensory journey lasting approximately 150min. As it is a total scenic experience, the music and the image will dialogue in real time, offering you a different way to rediscover this film recognized as Memory of the World by UNESCO.
The artistic team 🎷
The original music has been created by the pianist and composer César Latorre and the multidisciplinary artist Verónica R. Galán, who lead a luxury ensemble:
- César Latorre: piano and keyboards
- David Pastor: trumpet
- Horacio García: double bass
- Verónica R. Galán: voice and electronics
- Ian Morris: drums and percussion
Why you cannot miss it
Beyond its historical value, Metropolis remains a deeply current work that invites us to reflect on the automation of labor, social inequality, and the relationship between technology and power. This event serves as a perfect artistic prelude to the upcoming centennials of the work, both literary and cinematic, which we will celebrate in 2026 and 2027.
The screening will be carried out on the original restored version, fully respecting the vision of Fritz Lang. It is an exceptional opportunity to enjoy the monumentality of this film in a space as emblematic as the Teatro Jovellanos.
