About the event

The Sociedad Filarmónica de Gijón inaugurates its 2026-2027 season with an evening that promises to be an authentic display of virtuosity at the Teatro Jovellanos. It is the perfect opportunity to enjoy a unique sonic journey, which will take us from the classical elegance of Mozart to the emotional depth of Richard Strauss.

Event details

This concert will feature the participation of the Ensemble 4.70, the ensemble in residence for the season, under the direction and as concertmaster of Yuri Zhislin. The event will take place at the Teatro Jovellanos.

Musical program 🎶

The evening is divided into two fundamental pieces that explore different facets of orchestral music:

  • Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Concerto for Flute, Harp, and Orchestra in C major, K.299 (297c), with the participation of Mercedes Schmidt (flute) and José Antonio Domené (harp).
  • Richard Strauss: Metamorphosen, study for 23 solo string instruments, TrV 290.

The second part of the program stands out for being a monumental and breathtaking work, rarely performed due to its great technical demand, where 23 string instrumentalists act as individual soloists. It will, without a doubt, be an unforgettable night to mark the beginning of an essential season.
