The Memory Machine: Improvised Theatre by Libélula Impro at TEMA (Gijón)

About the event

The Gijón-based company Libélula Impro returns to TEMA on Thursday, November 19 with “The Memory Machine”, an improvised theatre show built from the audience’s memories.

The premise, in the company’s own words: “They say that memories are stored in the brain like small treasures, and it is thanks to our memory that we are able to relive our past, and with it shape the present and imagine the future.” During the performance, those “small treasures” shared by the spectators serve as a starting point for improvised theatre scenes created on the spot, meaning no two shows are alike.

Libélula Impro was born in Gijón in September 2023 at the hands of Vero, Ana, Ramón, Alan, and Nacho, with backgrounds extending beyond improv: text theatre, stand-up, swing, oral storytelling, and dramaturgy. The company champions “the transformative power of improvisation” and, although improv naturally tends toward comedy, it does not rule out drama. With this very show, they have also performed outside of Asturias, at Sala Negra in Logroño.

Admission works on a pay-what-you-wish basis: each spectator pays what they consider appropriate at the end of the show.
