Introduction to calligraphy: Uncial script

The Centro del Prerrománico Asturiano is organizing a practical workshop dedicated to the introduction and initiation into the Uncial alphabet. This type of script, originating in the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD, was fundamental in monasteries for preserving classical culture and is the basis of the aesthetic associated with the “Celtic world” present in current signage in Asturias.

The course is aimed at adults and youth from 16 years of age. Attendees will receive all necessary materials, including a dossier and documentation. It is recommended to wear appropriate clothing due to the use of inks.

Workshop details

• Dates: November 14 and 15, 2026.
• Time: From 10:00 to 14:30.
• Duration: 9 hours in total.
• Spots: 15 (minimum of 7 people to carry out the activity).
• Instructor: Andrés Antón Díez, president of the Asociación Asturias Caligrafía.
