2nd "Pequeños Gigantes" Children's Chess Tournament

Are you looking for a different plan full of excitement to enjoy with the family? The “Pequeños Gigantes” tournament is a fantastic opportunity to see the youngest ones demonstrate their skill in chess in a close and very special environment. ♟️

This event, which was born in 2021, will be held on April 25, 2026 at the Plaza del Náutico. It is an event designed for primary school students, between 6 and 12 years old, where more than 150 children from 21 schools in Gijón and other parts of the Principado de Asturias will gather to share their passion for the game.

Schedule and dynamics

The tournament will take place throughout the day, allowing participants to enjoy a complete experience of coexistence and strategy:

• Tournament schedule: from 10:00 to 19:00.
• Lunch break: from 13:00 to 15:00.

The competition is organized in a league format, where teams of between 4 and 6 players advance through different phases until reaching the final rounds. Each game lasts 20 minutes and participants will earn points based on their wins, draws, or losses. It will be an unforgettable day of camaraderie and great ingenuity! 🌟
