Description
Starting from the urban landscapes painted by Piñole, this itinerary travels through the city of Gijón/Xixón to discover the keys that shaped some of its most emblematic corners and remember others that have since disappeared.
Historical Context
During the first decades of the 20th century, Gijón experienced a period of unstoppable expansion driven by industrialization. Urban planning and architecture took on a special prominence, shaping new spaces, commercial axes, and boulevards. Nicanor Piñole (1878-1978) captured this transformation and development in many of his works.
