About the event

Synopsis

Summer of 1983. The famous English writer Roald Dahl is reviewing the proofs of his latest book, about to go to press, but the scandal caused by an antisemitic article he recently published does not seem to be calming down. Throughout an afternoon at his home, faced with an unexpectedly belligerent interlocutor, Dahl is forced to choose between apologizing publicly or putting his fame and reputation at risk.

Josep María Pou embodies Roald Dahl, the eccentric, internationally famous writer, author of hits such as Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and The Witches, who saw how his controversial statements inflamed the press and affected his reputation with unpredictable consequences.

Directed by Josep María Mestres and inspired by true events, the play by Mark Rosenblatt offers a multifaceted portrait of a terribly charismatic writer and explores, with sharpness and a certain humor, the difference between a reasoned opinion and the dangers of rhetoric dictated by prejudice.
