Franco Fagioli and Gabetta Consort – Farinelli

About the event

The countertenor Franco Fagioli and the Gabetta Consort String Orchestra, conducted by violinist Andrés Gabetta, present the program “Farinelli” in the Sala Argenta of the Palacio de Festivales de Cantabria, a journey through 18th-century Italian opera and instrumental music. The critical edition of the scores is by Giovanni Andrea Sechi.

Fagioli has brought back to the stage the repertoire composed for the great 18th-century castrati. His voice spans three octaves, and he was the first countertenor to sign an exclusive contract with Deutsche Grammophon, with albums dedicated to Rossini, Händel, and Leonardo Vinci; he has performed at festivals such as Halle, Ludwigsburg, Innsbruck, and Salzburg. The Gabetta Consort, founded in 2019 by Andrés Gabetta, specializes in historically informed performance with period instruments.
