Fiesta of Dawn in Quirós
The hermitage of the Virgin of the Dawn, located on the slope of the Sierra del Aramo, at an altitude of 1,090 meters, hosts the Fiesta of the Dawn in homage to the Virgin of the same name.
During the entire day, various cultural and religious acts are performed. After the procession, accompanied by bagpipes and drums, the solemn outdoor and sung mass in the Quirosan language is celebrated. Among other acts, the auction of the ramu of pan de escanda bread, the country meal, the horseback tapestry races, the vaquera horse riding demonstration, the rope shooting, the indigenous sports, and the children’s games stand out.
In the afternoon, already in the town of Salcedo, the party continues with a great pilgrimage and fair.
It is customary to go the day before and camp in the vicinity of the hermitage until the next day.
