Tuesday, August 18, 2026, 08:00 PM-10:00 PM
About the event

The pianist from Gijón Martín García García (Gijón, 1996), considered one of the young performers with the greatest international projection, returns to the Teatro Jovellanos as part of the Festival Internacional de Piano de Gijón with a recital that brings together virtuosity, sensitivity, and profound artistic maturity.

Trained in his early years in Gijón with Natalia Mazoun and Ilyà Goldfarb, and subsequently at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía under the tutelage of Galina Eguiazarova, Martín was recognized by Her Majesty Queen Sofía as the Most Outstanding Student of her chair. His international career achieved significant recognition with the winning of the First Prize of the Cleveland International Piano Competition 2021 and the Third Prize of the XVIII International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw 2021, where he also received the special prize from the Warsaw National Philharmonic Orchestra for the best concerto performance.

Since then, he has performed alongside some of the main international orchestras, including the Warsaw Philharmonic, the Orquesta Nacional de España, the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Symphoniker Hamburg, collaborating with conductors such as Mikhail Pletnev, Vasily Petrenko, and Andrey Boreyko. His regular presence on stages across Europe and Asia has consolidated him as one of the most prominent figures of the new generation of pianists.

This evening will also feature the participation of the podcast ElVomitorio, together with Nacho Castellanos and Mario Marzo, who will record one of their episodes live.
