This exhibition covers the three hundred years of history of the Real Fábrica de Tapices, founded by Felipe V in 1721 for the manufacture and restoration of textile pieces. The exhibition highlights how artists of the stature of Francisco de Goya have left their mark on tapestry cartoon designs, influencing the decorative styles of palaces and institutions throughout the centuries.
The exhibition highlights the combination of ancestral artisanal techniques with current technological resources, which are fundamental today for the conservation and restoration of tapestries, carpets, and heraldic hangings.
