The exhibition hall of the Centro Municipal Integrado de Pumarín Gijón Sur hosts an exhibition in tribute to D. José Carlos González Garrido (1944-1988), founder of the Club Independiente Deportivo (C.I.D.) of Pumarín-Nuevo Gijón Perchera. This exhibition reviews the trajectory of a club that, for nearly four decades since the early 60s, marked the lives of its members.
The initiative highlights the club’s unique code of ethics, where the players themselves took on logistical, sporting, and cultural management, holding positions of responsibility such as president, secretary, or treasurer. This model sought to empower children and youth, transmitting values that the participants kept throughout their entire lives.
