La Euskadiko Orkestra dedicates two concerts at the Auditorio Kursaal to a rarely performed work by the Capuchin composer Aita Donostia: the incidental music for La vie profonde de Saint François d’Assise. It is an opportunity to hear in San Sebastián a score tied to one of the essential figures of 20th-century Basque music.
The work originated as music for Henri Ghéon’s play, a production lasting over four hours that premiered in Paris in 1926 to mark the seventh centenary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi. The version performed in these concerts lasts about 66 minutes.
