Ismael María González Arias received the Xosefa Xovellanos Prize for Asturian novel in 2024 with the work 1664/1665.
Ismael María González Arias (Mieres del Camín, 1958) is a writer and music producer, and for decades was the director of the Teodoro Cuesta Cultural Center in Mieres del Camín. Among his abundant literary production are the works with which he won the Máximo Fuertes Acevedo essay prizes (L’Asturianada , 1998), María Josefa Canellada Prize for Children’s and Young Adult Literature (Les puertes del paraísu , 2009) or the Xosefa Xovellanos itself, which he had already obtained on two previous occasions (El cuartu negociu , 1992; En busca de Xovellanos , 2005). In 2009, he was also honored with the Asturias Critics’ Prize.
