European Day of the Camino de Santiago in Asturias

The Ministry of Culture, Linguistic Policy and Sport celebrates the European Day of the Camino de Santiago 2026 and the European Heritage Days with a cultural program that highlights the European dimension of the Jacobean routes. From September 14 to 20, the municipalities of Grandas de Salime and Llanes will host various activities to promote the Camino as a space for meeting and building a shared identity, within the framework of the promotion strategy for Xacobéu 2027. 🏛️

Program by location

The activities take place in two fundamental enclaves of the Northern Caminos, declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO:

• Grandas de Salime: The program includes exhibitions, workshops, children’s activities, traditional music, guided routes, craft demonstrations, and a videomapping on the collegiate church of El Salvador. In addition, the Museo Etnográfico de Grandas de Salime Pepe el Ferreiro will offer free admission throughout the week.
• Llanes: The cultural offer includes family shows, workshops, theater, storytelling, traditional games, historical reenactments, routes through the urban heritage, and music. Likewise, the facade of the palacio de Gastañaga will be the stage for a videomapping show about local history and its relationship with the Camino.

All offerings are free. To participate in the activities, prior registration is required through the official channels of the Museo Etnográfico de Grandas de Salime and the Casa Municipal de Cultura de Llanes.
