Day of Asturias. Gijón
The city of Gijón/Xixón hosts the first Sunday in August the Day of Asturias , which fills the city streets, mainly the Paseo del Muro, with music and folk dances.
During the morning various bagpipe bands act throughout the city, while citizens participate in popular dances in different squares and the Jira is celebrated on the Cerro de Santa Catalina with popular food.
The parade of Asturian folk groups and invited national groups and an Asturian party close the acts of this day of vindication of Asturian traditions.
