Forging and woodturning demonstrations

Wednesday, July 15, 2026 - Friday, September 11, 2026
About the event

The Museo Etnográfico de Grandas de Salime “Pepe el Ferreiro” offers the opportunity this summer to discover two traditional trades that were fundamental in rural communities: woodturning and forging.

Woodturning demonstrations

Arturo Iglesias, the torneiro at the Museum, shows how the pole lathe works. This technique, recovered by the museum, allowed for the manufacturing of wooden tableware used in rural households. The sessions take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from July 16 to September 10, 2026.

Forging demonstrations

In these live sessions, it is shown how the ferreiros manufactured tools and implements essential for construction, agricultural work, and daily life. The sessions take place on Wednesdays and Fridays, from July 15 to September 11, 2026.

  • Target audience: All audiences (children under 12 must be accompanied).
  • Duration: Approximately 20 minutes.
  • Price: Free activity (included with museum admission).
