About the play
El tiempo del hijo starts from the death of the playwright’s mother to look at some of the great issues of the present: the disappearance of the family structures that sustained care (based on inequality), the seclusion of illness in a scientific context, the dissolution of the welfare state and its most pronounced effect on the elderly, and the abandonment of collective rituals surrounding death.
