Conference: The human brain: How is it built?

About the event

Have you ever wondered how we go from being a single cell to developing the most complex organ in our body? I invite you to discover the secrets of our evolution and brain development in a fascinating talk that promises to change the way you understand the human mind. 🧠

The event is on April 17, 2026 at 19:00 at the Salón de actos de la Escuela de Comercio in Gijón. Admission is open to the general public, making it a unique opportunity to learn from an expert in the field.

About the conference

In this meeting, the pathologist Aurora Astudillo González will guide us through an exciting journey: from single-celled organisms to the incredible architecture of the current brain. We will explore how our tissues specialize to form the nervous system and analyze key topics such as:

  • Phylogenetic evolution and our own ontogeny.
  • The localization of brain functions and their amazing plasticity.
  • Current assistive devices.
  • A look at the future: the development of the bionic brain.

This event is organized by the Grupo de Ciencia del Ateneo Obrero de Gijón and is an excellent occasion to approach science in an accessible and informative way. Don’t miss it! 🔬
