Immerse yourself in a sound experience where the past and the present converge in an unusual way. The musician Chiaki Mawatari invites us on a fascinating journey that defies the limits of time, reinterpreting the masterpieces of J. S. Bach and the Golden Age compositions of Diego Ortiz through instruments that their original authors never knew. With a career spanning from jazz to symphonic music, Mawatari proposes a unique journey that connects the Renaissance and the Baroque with an unexpected touch of The Beatles. 🎶
Program 🎼
The artist presents his own transcriptions for tuba and serpent, exploring unique sonorities:
- J. S. Bach: An approach to his work from the perspective of the tuba, an instrument that did not exist in his time.
- Diego Ortiz: An exploration of his Renaissance music through the serpent, the curious snake-shaped wind instrument that emerged in 1590.
- The Beatles: A very special version of “Blackbird,” the bucolic piece by Paul McCartney, which closes this musical journey through the 16th to 18th centuries.
