About the exhibition
As part of the activities developed within the framework of the I Jornadas Castreñas, organized by the Museos Arqueológicos de Gijón/Xixón, this exhibition is presented, which explores the importance of hillforts in the political landscape of Asturias during the Iron Age and Antiquity.
Historical context
Hillforts were the first mode of stable and fortified settlement in the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula. Distributed from the coastal front to the interior highlands, these settlements stood out for their defensive structures such as palisades, moats, and walls, a reflection of the community cohesion of the time.
The exhibition is located in the edificio de Recepción of the Parque Arqueológico-Natural de la Campa Torres.
