If you are passionate about the recent history of Asturias and graphic design, you cannot miss this fascinating exhibition that covers decades of cultural advocacy. It is a unique opportunity to discover how art and language came together in posters that are now key pieces of our collective memory. 🎨
Practical information
The exhibition is held at the Muséu del Pueblu d’Asturies and will be open to the public from March 25, 2026 to November 1, 2026.
This exhibition stems from the generous donation made by the Fundación Belenos to the museum in 2023. Through a selection of its oldest posters, you will be able to immerse yourself in the movement for the defense of the Asturian language that emerged during the Democratic Transition, remembered for historical slogans such as Bable nes escueles!.
What will you find in the exhibition?
The collection is a vibrant reflection of Asturian society at the end of the 20th century. Very diverse aesthetics coexist within it, from motifs inspired by folk, Celtic, and prehistoric art to contemporary designs. 🏛️
The posters on display cover a wide variety of themes:
- Music and Celtic nights.
- Popular festivals.
- Politics and environmentalism.
- Defense and promotion of the Asturian language.
It is impressive to see how these works, which were once ephemeral, have become an essential testimony thanks to the work of professional illustrators, artists, and activists. If you are left wanting more, remember that you can consult the complete catalog of the collection at fondos.gijon.es.
