Would you like to enjoy an unforgettable afternoon of classical music in a unique setting? I invite you to discover “Song of the East: The Cello in the Russian Tradition,” a recital that promises to immerse us in the emotional depth and virtuosity of the great Russian masters. 🎻

The concert will take place on May 15, 2026 at 19:30 at the Museo Casa Natal de Jovellanos. The activity is free and admission is open until full capacity is reached, so it is a perfect plan to enjoy culture in our city.

The program 🎶

This recital, organized by the Fundación Municipal de Cultura, Educación y Universidad Popular de Gijón in collaboration with Juventudes Musicales de Gijón/Xixón, will feature the participation of:

  • Diego Jiménez (cello)
  • Sergio García (piano)

The 60-minute musical proposal will take us on a fascinating journey:

  • Serenade Espagnole by Alexander Glazunov.
  • Sonata in D minor, Op. 40 (1934) by Dmitri Shostakóvich, a work marked by intensity and dramatic contrasts.
  • Sonata in G minor, Op. 19 (1901) by Sergei Rachmaninov, famous for its expansive lyricism and melodic richness.
