Asturian Women. Twenty Women and Inspiring Collectives by Alicia Álvarez

No is necessary to go far to look for female references. Aida Lafuente, Margarita Salas, Corín Tellado, Les Cigarreres, Xosefa Jovellanos, La Busdonga or Rosa Fernández are some of the names that form this selection of women and collectives who in Asturias, from various areas and at different historical moments, contributed with their achievements to pave the way for equality. Without their nonconformity and bravery it would not have been possible to recover the active role that for centuries was denied to women in society.

In an amiable and complicit conversation, the Asturian journalist and writer Alicia Álvarez, author of the book Asturianas, reviews the biographies and achievements of these women who participated in a fundamental way in the construction of our history from Asturias.

The presentation is accompanied by the projection of the illustrations of each of the protagonists and collectives, made by the Asturian artist María Ortiz Iglesias, also illustrator of the book Asturianas.
