Llagar Bernueces, in Castiello de Bernueces (Gijón), is hosting its Amagüestu at the llagar on Saturday, November 21, an afternoon dedicated to one of Asturias’ most deeply rooted autumn traditions: roasted chestnuts accompanied by sweet cider.
The experience, under the motto “Live the tradition,” includes a cone of chestnuts and unlimited sweet cider. In the words of the llagar itself, “you can drink all the sweet cider you want while enjoying our cone of chestnuts.” The sweet cider is of their own production, which the llagar markets as Sidradulce Bernueces.
Llagar Bernueces was founded in 1881 and is, according to Turismo Asturias, the oldest llagar in Gijón. The same family has managed it for generations, producing their natural cider there, and for nearly two decades, it has also featured a restaurant and event rooms. It is located right in the rural area, about 5 km from San Lorenzo beach and near the Jardín Botánico Atlántico, and has its own parking lot and children’s playground.
