About the event

The mark left by William Shakespeare is so profound that its echo reaches unexpected corners of the history of universal art. Under the title “About Shakespeare”, the Fundación Ópera de Oviedo invites us to a multidisciplinary production that transcends the conventional recital, where singing, theater, and dance intertwine to explore the great questions of the human condition. 🎭

It is a unique opportunity to rediscover the classics through a visual and sonic fresco where the word, the gesture, and the music merge under the concept and direction of Lino V. Mallo.

Musical program 🎶

The journey is as eclectic as it is fascinating, spanning from Elizabethan refinement to the modernity of the 20th century:

  • Thomas Morley (1557 – 1602): Selection of songs
  • Giuseppe Verdi (1813 – 1901): Selection of lyrical scenes
  • Erik Satie (1866 – 1925): Socrate (Dramma con musica)
  • Igor Stravinsky (1882 – 1971): Three Songs from William Shakespeare

Artists on stage ✨

This proposal features a luxury cast that will bring this artistic experience to life:

  • Vilma Ramírez, soprano
  • Paula Iragorri, mezzo-soprano
  • Marcos Suárez, piano
  • Carlos Mesa, actor
  • Olimpia Oyonarte, dancer and choreographer

The team is completed by the work of Alba Delgado as assistant director and stage manager, under the production of the Fundación Ópera de Oviedo. It is, without a doubt, an essential appointment for those seeking a new and profound look at the legacy of the English bard.
