The Descenso Folklórico del Nalón is one of the most iconic and fun festivals in Asturias, declared a National Tourist Interest Festival. At this event, the participating groups build boats with ingenious and original designs with the sole objective of navigating the Nalón river until reaching the puente de la Chalana.
The crew members must strive to the maximum to keep their creations afloat, pushing and navigating around the river’s obstacles while the public cheers with enthusiasm from the banks. Beyond the competition to win the famous Sopera, the atmosphere is festive, wholesome, and full of camaraderie.
Once the water trial is finished, the celebration continues on dry land, turning this day into an unforgettable experience for all attendees.
