3rd Xixón Folk Festival

Immerse yourself in the essence of Asturian culture during the 3rd edition of Xixón Folk, a vibrant gathering that celebrates music, craftsmanship, and traditions in the heart of Gijón. From June 5 to June 7, 2026, the Parque Fluvial de Viesques will be transformed into a meeting point for families and folklore lovers, offering an immersive experience with concerts, traditional markets, participatory workshops, and mythological shows, all organized by the Banda Gaites Saxum.

Friday, June 5

• 17:00 to 21:30: Exhibition of traditional crafts.
• 18:00 to 21:00: Participatory craft workshops.
• 19:00: Mythological parade with the Banda Gaites Saxum (route from the roundabout on Calle Corín Tellado to the roundabout on Calle Albert Einstein).
• 20:30: Traditional Asturian dance workshop with the Grupo Folklórico Trebeyu.
• 21:30: Night of dance with the participation of Pandereteres de Trebeyu, Grupu Etnográficu L’Oriente - Llacín, Soi Panderetera, and Los del Prau Chanu.

Saturday, June 6

• 11:00 to 21:30: Exhibition of traditional crafts.
• 11:00 to 13:00: Traditional and ancient games.
• 11:30 to 14:30: Participatory craft workshops.
• 13:30: Entertainment with mythological beings.
• 17:00 to 20:00: Participatory craft workshops.
• 18:00: Entertainment with characters from Asturian mythology.
• Afternoon: Alcuentru de Bandes de Gaites Saxum + Folk night with concerts.

Sunday, June 7

• 11:00 to 21:30: Exhibition of traditional crafts.
• 11:00 to 13:00: Traditional and ancient games.
• 11:30 to 14:30: Participatory craft workshops.
• 13:30 and 19:00: Entertainment with mythological beings.
• 17:00 to 20:00: Participatory craft workshops.

🎨 Activities and Craftsmanship 🛠️

The festival includes the 2nd edition of Saxum per Asturies, a market with ~50 stalls featuring 100% artisanal crafts and food. Highlights include demonstrations of traditional loom and wool processing, wood carving, and making traditional lligues.

Craft workshops include: stonemasonry, pottery, traditional jewelry, basketry, wool and felt, loom, leather, pyrography, charcoal and stamping, bonsai, güevos pintos, puppets, sweet cider, and apple pressing, as well as slingshot shooting. Prior registration for the workshops will take place at the Saxum per Asturies stalls located on the Esplanada del Parque Fluvial.
